NORTH SHORE · AUCKLAND
Youth Speed Training Auckland
Speed and agility training for athletes aged 12 to 18 on Auckland's North Shore. Age-banded groups, VALD SmartSpeed timing and high-speed video in every session, and a report parents can read.
HOW IT WORKS
Test, coach, re-test.
Baseline test
First session: 10m, 20m and 40m splits and a 505 change-of-direction test on VALD SmartSpeed gates, plus high-speed video of their sprint.
Coached sessions
Small groups by age band. Acceleration mechanics, top speed, change of direction, and the strength work that supports it, scaled to training age.
Re-test and report
Gate data every month. Parents and athletes get the numbers, the trend, and what the next block targets.
WHAT WE MEASURE
Numbers, not opinions

VALD SmartSpeed gates
10m, 20m and 40m splits and top speed, timed to the millisecond. The same gates used for the professional squads we test.

505 agility test
Change-of-direction speed in both directions, so we can see side-to-side differences early.

High-speed video
Frame-by-frame sprint mechanics so the athlete can see what the coach sees.
AGE BANDS
Grouped by age, coached by training age
Ages 12–14
Movement skill, sprint mechanics and coordination. Low volume, lots of feedback, no heavy loading.
Ages 15–16
Acceleration and top speed with introductory strength work. Most athletes here are playing school and club sport.
Ages 17–18
Preparing for 1st XV, premier club grades, or academy trials. Full Speed Academy methodology with age-appropriate loading.
Rugby, netball, football, athletics
Speed transfers across every field and court sport. We coach the sprint; the sport-specific coach does the rest.
